War trauma refers to a serious change in a person's behavior after experiencing war, which is usually caused by a trauma (also known as psychological, emotional or mental trauma or psychotrauma) and which can affect soldiers (post-war “veterans”) as well as civilians. These are not quick, temporary acute stress reactions, but predominantly long-term disorders.
