plot synopsis:
The film is based on the life of Louis Zamperini an American Olympic athlete star who volunteers after the outbreak of the Second World War and goes to war. He survives a crash landing in the Pacific and he and two other soldiers are able to rescue themselves on a raft. They manage to remain on it for 47 days. Eventually they are picked up and captured by Japanese military forces. From this moment on they are susceptible to extreme torture.
