plot synopsis:
The movie is a montage of stories about US soldiers in the Iraq war. All smaller episodes lead to the main story of the cruel crime of a small group of soldiers against an iraqi girl and her family, which is based on the events of Mahmudiyah, 2006.
The soldiers, filmed by the comrad Angel Salazar, return to the house of an iraqi family they have raided before because they have discovered the man’s daughter. Back at the family, they seperate the girl from the rest of the family. Meanwhile Rush starts, to rape her, Flake kills the others. Lawyver McCoy tries, at first, to prevent the crime, however, he stands on guard outside the house. The others all rape the iraqi victim, who gets shot as well.
Because of the self-accusations McCoy has, he reports the event to his superior.

The movie is partly based on the Mahmudiyah killings in 2006. Five US soldiers have been involved in the crime that is rated as one of the most cruel crimes against the iraqi civilian population.

The killing of two US soldiers at the Frankfurt Airport, Germany, were committed by a 21-year-old, who claimed to have killed them because of a rape he has seen in a video on YouTube. He did not identify the clip as fiction of the movie »Redacted«.
