This documentary concentrates upon the life and work of Louis Aragon. Its centre is his connection to art and the friendship with Henri Matisse. Aragon joines the Communist party in 1927 and writes his novels in the style of socialist realism. During WWII he becomes a medical assistent and after his dismissal y flees with his wife Elsa Triolet to Nice where he joins the resistance. He becomes a poet of the French resistance and his topics include not only unlimited love but as well political action. In the time after war his life is still determined by his political engagement and his profession as a writer and poet.
