This documentary consists of ten episodes about the downfall of the German Reich and the time afterwards. The topics are: Refugees in northern Germany, women who worked in the ruins to survive, the freeing of the concentration camp Bergen-Belsen, Holocaust and the Germans knew nothing, the time when money was worth anything again, the children of Bulldogs Bank, hope from packages, the fight after the war, the story of Wanda Gielisch, the experiences of Edith Loos. These episodes tell the stories of everydays life in brutal times, in which people had to cope with fleeing, surviving, freeing, care packages and currency reform.
