This documentary deals with the German blockade of Lenigrad, that took nearly 900 days. Leningrad was surrounded by German troops from September 8th in 1941 to January 27th in 1944 and was cut off from the rest of the world. Illnesses and hunger followed and people ate leather, paste and earth to survive. Cannibalism belonged to their everyday life. Already in the first winter a million of people died. But the emaciated people of Leningrad held out till the end and celebrated the end of the blockade on January 27th in 1944. In this documentary witnesses talk about their fight to survive and remember those who could not experience Janary 27th in 1944.
