plot synopsis:
This film is based on the true story of the Canadian doctor Norman Bethune. Shown are all stations of his life: His deeply religious family in Ontario, his medical studies at school, the development of his wish to help less fortunated people and give them medical aid. A huge part of his life he helped people in the war zones in Europe or developed new technologies in his home country. In 1939 he died of blood poisoning during he helped the Chinese armee in the fight against the Japanese during World War II.
