"Operation Hollywood" deals with the history of the relationship between the Hollywood film studios and the armed forces, which exist since the First World War and which are enforced since the 1980’s. On side of the american army, there is an increasing interest in supporting war- and fighting-films, not at last because of controlling them and to improve the corporate image. Willingly, military bases, submarines and aircraft-carriers are given at disposal for the setting of the films. The history of the cooperation gets illustrated with foodage and interviews with military authorities, members of special forces and military experts on the one hand and with directors, producers and actors on the other hand. Especially the interactive influence of the institutions in artistic und ideologic ways is shown.
