plot synopsis:
Soldier Joe Allen is on a two-day leave in New York, where he meets Alice - right under the huge clock at New York's Pennsylvania Station. She agrees to show him the sights and they spend the next 48 hours together. The two fall in love, make the acquaintance of such lovable gotham types as cabbie Al Henry and an inebriate patriot, and eventually decide to get married before the Joe is shipped out again.

remarks:
Although the Pennsylvania Station in the film looks authentic - even to lifelong New Yorkers -it was merely a Hollywood film-set, a very convincing back projection. Unusally so, because MGM had a reputation for the worst back projection in the business.
