An old friend of director Ari Folman has the same nightmare over and over again: 26 vicious dogs haunt him. One night Ari and his friend meet in a bar and the nightmares come up. It seems to them, that there must be a connection between these dreams and their mission in the First Lebanon War as part of the Israeli Army. Surprised that Ari can’t remember anything of his time in this war, he decides to search and interview his comrades and old friends. While he travels around the world to meet them and to hear their stories he tries to find the truth about himself and his time in war. His memories begin to come back to him as surreal images, when he continues his search.
