The film takes place in April 1945 in Germany. In a small village a train with prisoners from a concentration camp stops. The prisoners are supposed to be brought to another camp, but the train stays in the village for a longer time. The screaming of the prisoners can be heard in the whole village, but nobody acts. Just the daughter of a restaurant owner who is very loyal to the regime helps and brings food to the prisoners. Afterwards the inhabitants of the village discuss how to solve their problem and the stationmaster developes a plan. The film is based on a true story and deals with humanity and civil courage.
