Reconstruction of the life of Ernst S.. who was executed for treason in the night of November 11th, 1942. Securing the evidence in the landscape of Ernst S., with people who were close to him, with others who had to deal with the case. Especially the brothers give information on an aimless existence; other witnesses evoke a difficult time that could not or did not want to show no mercy.

Before the film the fate of the executed traitors was a taboo topic in Switzerland. By doubting the appropriateness of the death sentence and asking if there had not been more severe cases of treason the two surpassed the allowed canon of questions on issues of Swiss society.
After its presentation the film immediately raised harsh protests and developed in to a political issue. The makers were accused of manipulation, terror, and underhandedness.
