Tom Salsa, a war correspondent, is found dead next to a house for asylum seekers, in which live many people from the former Yugoslavia. His friend and colleague Peter Hausmann hears about his death when he returns from his holidays and shortly after this his daughter is threatened by a burglar who has known Salsa. Hausmann guesses that there is a connection between Salsa's death, the burglary and his job. Lena Odenthal is the head of the findings. The asylum seekers do not cooperate, but she gets information about a certain "Doctor", who is presumably an internationally wanted war criminal, somehow connected with Hausmann and Salsa.
