The 4077th MASH (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) is stationed only three miles behind the front line. Although they rebel against any form of military authority and openly oppose the war, they do their best during the seemingly endless operations. With entirely unmilitary behaviour, their heavy drinking and their permanent pranks they successfully attempt to provoke the majors Fank Burns and „Hot Lips“ Houlihan, him an incompetent doctor and hypocrite and rigid Christian, she an Army true-believer.
