plot synopsis:
The 4077th MASH (Mobile Army Surgical Hospital) is stationed only three miles behind the front line. Main characters are the two surgeons „Hawkeye“ Pierce and „Trapper“ John McIntyre conscripted into the army to serve in Korea. Although they rebel against any form of military authority and openly oppose the war, they do their best during the seemingly endless operations. With entirely unmilitary behaviour, their heavy drinking and their permanent pranks they successfully attempt to provoke the majors Fank Burns and „Hot Lips“ Houlihan, him an incompetent doctor and hypocrite and rigid Christian, she an Army true-believer. With the occasional support from other „hedonists“ like dentist Painless" Walter Waldofski, Duke Forrest and the uneducated private Radar O'Reilly (who knows the orders his dopey commanding colonel Blake will give before they are given) Hawkeye and Trapper try find out if Houlilhan is a true blond, they fly to Japan to play golf, organize a pretty unfair football match against another MASH unit and arrange a Last Supper for Painless, who suffers from temporary erectile dysfunction.
