After Italy gave Germany their declaration of war in 1943, parts of the fifth devision are located in the autrian-italian boarder district of the Alps. Little units save a 260 km front to the tune of 3000 m under very bad conditions. Among extreme climatic condotions, penned up in cramed space with slipping provisions, a group of german soldiers has to presevere. The fight for life becomes a touchstone for their companionship and compassion and the situation between the men escalates.
