The 17 year old Alistair Little, member of the UVF, wants to take revenge for assasinations by the IRA. He kills a young catholic, James Griffin, whose 8 year old brother Joe watches in horror. Little is sentenced to 12 years in prison. 33 years later there is a reconcilation attempt in front of cameras. Joe and Little are supposed to shake hands, but Joe wants to kill Little with a knife. Shortly before that he panics and flees, so the meeting is not going to happen. He tries it two more times, the last time in the empty house where Little killed James Griffin. They fight and in the end Little offers Griffin to move to Belfast so that Joe can tell everyone that he got his revenge. Joe accepts and joins a therapy group where he decides to be a better father for his daughters. In the end he calls Little one last time and tells him that they're done.
