When his Vietnamese girlfriend diappears, ex-cop and war hero Chet Costa accepts a risky mission. He shall destroy a bridge, to close the Vietcong's line of communication. With a group of prisoners to accompany him he begins his mission but already on the way their helicopter is shot down and they have to march through the wilderness. When the soldiers recognize that they are on a suicide mission, they decide to get rid of the Sergeant and escape to Bangkok.
