plot synopsis:
This documentary shows the way of war reporting during World War I. Much of the film material, that was supposed to be real and directly from the front, instead was filmed after the war. The film analyses the filming diaries of a German and a French cinematographer between 1914 and 1918. They both made films for the news, each on his side of the front. They had to ask themselves for the first time, how to convert war into film.
