When Georg Elser, a carpenter and occasional watchmaker, witnesses the deportation of a jewish family he decides to kill Hitler in the Bürgerbräukeller on the occasion of his appearance at the anniversary of 1923 march to the Feldherrnhalle. A love-affair with one of the waitresses makes his plan even more difficult. When his bomb exlodes on november 8th 1938 Hitler has just left the building. Together with his lover Elser tries to escape to Switzerland but is arrested as he tries to cross the border.
