plot synopsis:
The half-Jewish young woman Hannah leaves New York after the death of her father, coming to Berlin to reveal some family-secrets. She meets ninety-year-old Lena Fisher, who cared for her mother Ruth during World War II and who is able to tell her something about the past:
In 1943 many Jewish husbands were kept in a jail on a street called "Rosenstraße". Lena and other women meet in front of the building for a week-long protest, where Lena also finds the seven-year old Ruth and takes care of her.
