La Commune brings up for discussion the civil war events in Paris of the year 1871, following the defeat of France in the Franco-Prussian War and the collapse of the reign of Napoleon III. The film tells the story of the Paris Commune, which established as a revolutionary town council an administration influenced by socialistic ideas in Paris in March 1871. Finally, in May, it was brutally struck down by government troops.The action is described from the point of view of two TV-journalists. These take thereby opposite positions. On the one hand on the side of the insurgents (Commune TV) and on the other hand on sides of the conservative government in Versailles (TV Nationale Versailles).“Commune TV” confronts reports of city dwellers over their conceptions of social and political reforms to the deliberate misinformation of the national television station.
