plot synopsis:
This documentary reconstructs the sinking of the cargo ship "Goya" at the end of World War II. On April 16th in 1945 the ship is hit by several bombs and sinks with 7.000 refugees on board. Just 175 of them will survive. The passengers wanted to flee from the sowjet troops, that had entered the east of Germany. German and Russian survivors talk about their destiny and the worst ship catastrophe ever. Besides the interviews, the film shows material from secret archives of the sowjet navy.
