The film takes place in a Belgrade army hospital, where victims of the Bosnian civil war are healed. In the hospital the patients remember their youth and the war. The focus of the film is set on two boys, the Muslim Halil, and the Serb Milan. They grew up together near a deserted tunnel reaching from Belgrade to Zagreb. As children they were afraid to go inside, because they believed an ogre lived inside the tunnel. Twelve years later, during the Bosnian civil war, Milan and his troop are trapped in the tunnel. He and Halil, find themselves on opposing sides, that head towards confrontation.
