plot synopsis:
A miniseries about a newly founded paratrooper unit, the E company. Beginning with its training in Georgia and the deployment to England it describes the landing operations on D-Day, the defence of the Belgian town of Bastogne, the liberation of the forced labour camp in Landsberg, and concludes with the capture of Hitler`s eagle-nest in Bavaria.
The series is completed by an eleventh part dedicated to interviews with the former members of Easy Company.

Probably the most awarded TV-miniseires in history with among others: Golden Globe, Golden Satellite Award, AFI TV Award, RTS Television Award, 20 (!) Emmys and more numerous international awards. But certainly the most expensive mini-series ever produced: 104 million dollars were spent for this production, not astoningly if one considers the many famous directors and writers participating.
"Band of Brothers" is not centered around the usual small number of heros who reappear in very episode. Instead, every part features a different member of the troop. The audience learns about the motivation an fears of the individual soldiers but gets an inside view into the functioning of a combat unit.
Who thought that with famous people like Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks participating "band of Brothers" would become a 10-hour "Private Ryan" will be disappointed. Of course, there are hand-camera shots of the battle sequences, but the material is far from the cruelties of the opening 20 minutes of "Ryan".
