Berlin, April 1945: the bunker under the Chancellory: young lieutenant Wüst is send by his general to instruct the Führer personally about the situation in and around Berlin, hoping that if Hitler gets to know about the real situation he might allow the desperately needed enforcements to be send. But Wüst is not admitted to Hitler. Instead he learns that the bunker personal has lost contact to the real circumstances. Armies that no longer exist still receive orders, generals don`t dare to inform their commanding officer about the real situation, whoever can tries to escape, and facing sure defeat the remaining soldiers organise a party with the canteen personal. Hitler and his entourage, Eva Braun and the Goebbels family are preparing their end. To prevent the Russian Red Army from further advancing to the Reichs-Chancellory Hitler orders the tunnels of the subway to be flooded where thousands of people sought refuge to escape the fighting in the streets. When Wüst eventually manages to met Hitler hearing about this order, he yells at him that any furhter fighting means murder and is therefore shot at by a guard.
While thousands die in the flooded tunnels, Hitler marries Eva Braun. As Wüst is dragged to the bunker hospital by his step-brother, Hitler and Eva Braun commit suicide. Their dead bodies are burned in the garden of the Chancellory as the Russian artillery fire gets closer.
