The film takes place during World War II and deals with a young married woman, who receives an official report of her husbands death. She gets married again to another man. At the end of the war the two husbands, who both survived the war, meet on their way back to their wife. They play Russian Roulette in a minefield, to see who of them is supposed to live and go on living with the wife. The second husband gets killed. But the survivor is not the winner of the game, because the woman really loved the man who was killed. He leaves her, to search for a new reason for his survival.
