plot synopsis:
Lost in a cold Italian winter during World War II, an American Sniper struggles to keep his soul intact. Killing a mass of German soldiers begins to break down his mental balance. A new victim is placed in front of his gun, but he doesn't shoot. He watches the lonely soldier through the scope of his rifle. This action causes an epiphany which heals the Sniper's soul. He realizes that the enemy is human. During he is looking at the soldier he begins to laugh, a situation which is new for him in war. Just slowly the Sniper recognizes that the funny and childish soldier is retarded. Slowly he lets the soldier know of his presence and decides to befriend him. But this will lead him into a fatal situation.
