plot synopsis:
The film is set during the Iraq war in 2003, when Kim Baker is stationed in Kabul as a war correspondent because all her colleagues have been called to Iraq. In Kabul, she realizes that everyday life does not meet her expectations. Her friends drink, take drugs and are primarily interested in sex. Baker tries to stay out of it and interviews American soldiers about the war in Afghanistan and is able to broadcast an interview with a marine. However, as her other contributions are not broadcast, she gets involved in drinking bouts with colleagues and starts an affair. An argument with a colleague leads her to leave Afghanistan, especially as the Marine interviewed has been transferred and lost both legs in an attack. In a roundabout way, she finally arrives in Washington D.C. and visits the wounded marine, who does not blame her for his injury.
