plot synopsis:
On the 24th March in 1944, 330 Italians get executed as a revenge for 33 murdered SS-Soldiers. Herbert Kapller, an officer, is torn by his love for Italy on the one hand and his devotion for Hitler on the other, when he gets instructions by his chief Kurt Mälzer to rin the execution. Vatican priest Pietro Antonelli and the other italian victims decide to die.
