plot synopsis:
Grischa, a Russian POW in a German camp has inly one desire: he wants to see his mother again. He manages to escape the camp and tries to make his way home hiding in the forest. The Germans keep searching for him relentlessly as he attempts to make it to the Russian front line. Eventually the Germans recapture him. As he wears the dog tag of a late Russian spy, he is put to trial before a military court. The German authorities don`t give him the slighest opportunity to prove his innocence, and Grischa is immediately executed.
