plot synopsis:
German propaganda-film justifing the invasion of Poland. The invasion is explained as a clearance against England´s, France`s and Poland`s policy of isolation. Director Hippler mixed images of the front with scenes of international diplomacy thus turning the attack into a pre-emptive war. For this cuase he seems to have used takes of French manoevres as pictures of German victories.

In 1941 Spanish director Buñuel was hired by The Museum of Modern Art through its contract with the Office of the Coordinator for Inter-American Affairs. While working at MoMA, Buñuel apparently also assisted Iris Barry, founder and first curator of the Museum`s Film Library, and Edward Kerns, the Film Library`s Technical Officer, in preparing abridged versions of several Nazi propaganda films. The shortened films were to be circulated to film study groups across the country.
