The film deals with Parisian Molière players, who act a thrilling tale of the French Resistance. The actor Claurousse mentions to another that his face reminds him of a member of the Vichy-regime. He himself is a exiled leader of the French Resistance movement, former working as lawyer at the Nazi-occupied island Madagascar. There, he smuggled able-bodied men off the island so they can go and fight in Europe. The man he supposes to know was the Petain-supportive French police chief in Madagascar and responsible for Claurousses’ imprisoning because of operating an ungerground railway and running an illegal radio station. At the end, Claurousse was rescued by the British.
