In the last year of World War II Paul Kellermann volunteers in order to not being striking in an embarrassing way. Captain Eisenhecker is outraged about Kellermann, and soon he proves to be the worst man of the whole company. By chance he finds a blank certificate for the awarding of the second class iron cross, that he takes spontaneously and fills in with his name. The next morning he comes to late to the service and presents that paper as an excuse. Captain Eisenhecker can’t believe his eyes and Paul becomes the model for the company. But when Eisenhecker is to be promoted to Major for the excellent training of Kellermann, the whole fraud is busted…
