plot synopsis:
This documentary deals with the biggest mass capitulation at the west front during World War II. In September 1944 German soldiers pull back from the occupied France. 25.000 soldiers and major Botho Henning Elster are in the rearguard. Elster contacts the resistance and the Allies to stop the killing. Then he experiences the biggest capitulation ever. Elster is sentenced to death, but can escape the penalty.
