plot synopsis:
This documentary reflects on the role of the Berlin philharmonic orchestra during the time of the Nazi Germany. Joseph Goebbels had ensured the influence on the orchestra right after the takeover of power and put it under the control of his department. The Berlin philharmonics were now obligated to form the musical frame of the "Reichspateitage" of the Nazis and the Olympic Games in 1936. Hitler and Goebbels held some of their speeches right from the orchestra stage. The various journeys were aimed at demonstrating the German "high culture". Nevertheless, there was no complete nazification of the orchestra and its musicians.
