plot synopsis:
This film tells the true story of the young German soldier Hans Blickensdörfer, who survives the end of World War II because he changes his steel helmet with a beret. He flees over the borders of three countries, experiences a French war prison and torture. In France he gets to know the singer Giselle and falls in love with her.
