The Polish prisoner Tomasz and his Jewish girlfriend Hannah escape the concentration camp. During the chaos of the end of the war, they get separated. Convinced that the other one is dead, they both build up a new life without each other. More than thirty years later Hannah finds out that Tomasz is still alive and she decides to see him again.
