plot synopsis:
Julien Dandieu is a surgeon in the local hospital in Montauban in 1944. He is frightened by the German army entering Montauban, this is why he asks his friend Francois to drive his wife and his daughter to his old castle in a village in the back country. The next weekend Julien decides to visit his family, but the village is already occupied by German forces.
