During the war of France in Algeria between 1954 and 1962 the French corporal Roque is based in a small Algerian village. Coming into closer cotact of that village he makes a lot of friends and is no longer able to understand the reason for that unequal war. Especially, noting the repressions of the civilists he debts whether he should fight against the population in which he could live peacefully.
