The film starts off with the birth of young Hans in Nazi-Germany. Of young age he already learns the story of Hitler in the Hitler-Youth-Group; a fairytale saying that Hitler - as a knight in shining armor - rescued poor Germania from the evil with Democracy; Hans and the other children become intrigued and salute in front of a picture of Hitler. When Hans falls sick and bedridden one day a german officer comes to get him, implicitly threatening his mother that if Hans does not become well soon again, he will be euthanized. When Hans returns healthy back to school, the class discusses a comic of a fox eating a rabbit. Hans has sympathy for the rabbit but is being punished for that and later goes in line with the other pupils saying that the rabbit was obviously too weak for survival. After an episode of burning books we see grown Hans who is now completely dedicated to the party until at last he goes to war with several other Nazis and falls into an anonymous grave.
