plot synopsis:
During the Korean War Lieutenant Joe Clemons and his company are ordered to take a hill from the Chinese. They accomplish their objective only after heavy losses. Merely 25 of 135 men reach the top of the hill. And none of them understands why this ridge is so important. What the men at the front don`t know is that they have become the victims if the U.N. negociations taking place simultaneously. The American delegation realizes that the Chinese are staling until their side wins the hill, aware of its military insignificance. They are testing the Americans` commitment by forcing them to sacrifice more men for the defense of a worthless object. The slaughter continues as the American officials decide to hold the hill.
