Over thirty year ago on September 11th 1973, Salvador Allende, the elected president of Chile shot himself. His death marks the victory of a dusty complot and the provisional end of a political vision for Latin America: The experiment of combining and harmonising socialisms and democracy. The election of Allende in September 1970 was a shock for the USA. The superpower dominated the economy of the small country and wanted to prevent with full force that the socialistic “experiment” of Chile becomes a model for whole Latin America. A combination of propaganda, bribery, sabotage and betrayal developed to a complot which became one of the most fatal of the 20th century. In a dramatically Chronology this documentation analyses the putsch against the elected President Salvador Allende. His daughter Isabell, his doctor, his companions and his enemy remember the tree years of his presidentship, which found a cruel end in the putsch of general Pinochet and the beginning of his dictatorship.
