In a Begrade suburb a group of young people tries to find their way back to civilian life after the war. They meet almost daily in the street-level windowless bar of their friend Bare where they are the only guests ever.
Toma, an ambulance driver who despite his phenomenal efforts, never manages to get to the hospital fast enough, dreams of starting a new life with Mira. Mira knows that Tomas really loves her. But because of her little daughter she stays with Krle, a prosperous gangster, who abuses and sodomizes her.
Steva, the bartender, dreams of going to Mexico one day. He loves Irena, a young actress who has devoted herself exclusively to the theatre. Duja only loves his motorcycle. He saved every penny for three years but now lacks the money for fuel and registration.
With their stories and lots of alkohol they attempt to escape the post-war hell. Their memories and everyday experiences describe the state the city of Belgrade is in after the second war on the Balcans.
