“Kiki und Tiger“ is the story about a friendship which seems to bee impossible in Europe of the nineties. Shortly before the civil war in Kosovo a young Serb, Tiger (Lenn Kudrjawizki), and an Albanian, Kiki (Stipe Erceg), who entered Germany illegally, defy all social resistances. After Kiki was displaced by the Serbs he hides himself by his best friend Tiger who is grown up in Germany and who cannot do anything with the growing nationalism in his mother county. Only the appearance of Sofie (Monika Ebert) and the intrigues of Tigers father Milo (Marek Wlodarczyk) can fan the distrust and jealousy of Tiger and drive him to the betrayal of his best friend.
“Kiki und Tiger” is not only a film which can report of the overcoming of ethnic borders, it is a film which starts as a sociological survey and ends as a drama about jealousy. It tells the story of inhumanity of war, ethnic hatred, degrading life in the underground, of fear of deportation, alluring drugs and suppressed emotions. But the film depends on a sincere story.
