Obedience and ideological blindness: The film deals with one of the organizers of the "Endlösung", decided by the german leaders.

Franz Lang is educated very strict and is afraid of the strictness and unemotionality of his father. With only seventeen he has to participate in World War I and is sent directly to the front. After the war he is not able to find a job and loses the ground under his feet. Just like so many young men at his age he finds a home in the volunteer corps, which is orientated towards the right. A friend introduces him to the leaders of the still unimportant party NSDAP. With the murder of a communist he draws the attention of his new friends to himself and he rises in the hierarchy. Even though he is put into prison, he makes a career in the party. After his time in prison he tries to survive as farmer. But as the National Socialists get into power, he finds his right place: He becomes adjutant in Dachau. Because he does his job very well, Himmler himself tells him to prepare the "Endlösung" in Auschwitz. Without any doubt if the following actions are right or wrong, he does whatever Himmler wants him to do. Command is command and he fulfills it just like a maschine and sees it more like a problem of organization. For him there was no other way, than to fulfill his duty ... without any doubt. He thought, that he was not the one to blame. Later, during a process he said, that he would have done it again. 1947 he is executed.
