plot synopsis:
At the beginning of the Second World War, beautiful Malèna moves to a small village in Sicily together with her husband Nico, and catches the eye of the twelve year old protagonist of the story, Renato. Nico soon goes to war and is reported day, leaving Malèna exposed to the ridicule of village women and the lust of the village men. To survive, she needs to seize drastic measures.
