May 1940. The Second World War has begun and in Great Britain a political crisis prevails. Prime Minister Neville Chamberlaine is being dismissed for his poor war preparations. On May 10 Winston Churchill, who has much more military experience and is resolute opponent of Hitler, takes Chamberlaines place. As a result of Germanys Blitzkrieg strategy, which is beginning to overrun Europe fastly, Churchill is under great pressure and has to take important decisions about the position which his nation should take in this war. Does he give in to inner-party pressure and negotiate with Hitler or does he stand with full force against the threatening invasion? In the End, Churchill decides for a policy of resistance. He gives hope and perseverance to the nation in a dark time of insecurity and fear.
