plot synopsis:
The film takes place in Nuremberg in the 1930s and tells the story of the Jewish shoe trader couple Katzenberger. Even though Leo and Claire are popular in town, the employees are jealous of their boss' success. The race hatred of the Nazis makes their hatred against the "shoe jew" even worse. When Leo has an affair with an Aryan woman, his employees denounce him. He is imprisoned, taken to court and executed because of the sexual relation to an Aryan.
