plot synopsis:
During the Second World War in the Pacific an American unit tries to conquer an island held by the Japanese. Captain MacDonald, a lawyer in civilian life, makes every effort not to let the young soldiers under his command become savage killers. His sadistic sergeant does not share his view. For him their mission has only one purpose: to kill as many "Japs" as possible.
