L´uomo che verrà tells the story of one of the cruelest German war crimes in Italy during the Second World War from the perspective of a little girl. 1944. The eight-year old Martina grows up as a child of a hard working farmer family in simple conditions in Marzabotto, a small town near Bologna. Martina`s mother is pregnant and the sensitive girl, who stopped talking since the death of her little brother some years before, awaits the child`s birth happily. But the war is getting closer, also to the remote village in the rough range of the Monte Sole. In the mountains partisans and German troops are fightimg each other heavily, while the citizens of Marzabotto are torn between their support for the resistance and their fear of the German soldiers. On the day of birth of Martina`s brother, the SS and units of the Wehrmacht start a terrible reprisal action against the civil population, whose witness the girl becomes.
